About Us
Our goal here at Two Rivers is to honor and glorify God by providing meaningful worship, sound Bible teaching, and sincere fellowship where everyone is accepted and welcomed. We strive to be obedient children of God who follow His Great Command (Mathew 22:37-39) and Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20). As the Family of God we recognize that each person is a unique creation of God and has been uniquely gifted to build up the Body of Christ (the church) and spread the Good News of the Lord Jesus Christ to all people everywhere. In our broken and hurting world today, we need the healing presence of Jesus more than ever.
mission statement
To be a church whose purpose is to be Christ like in our daily living by emphasizing total commitment of life, personality, and possessions to the lordship of Christ, and to be a church that ministers unselfishly to persons in the community and world in Jesus’ name.
our history
On January 16, 2000, a small group of 21 believers met at the American Legion Building in King George, VA. At this meeting it was decided to form a new congregation called the Potomac Christian Fellowship. Services began on March 19, 2000, at the King George Citizen Center. On October 1, 2000, our group voted to constitute as a church, and on November 26 voted on the name Two Rivers Baptist Church. Meetings were moved to the Fairview Beach Fire Department Social Hall and it was there on February 18, 2001, that Two Rivers Baptist Church was established.
Two Rivers Baptist Church voted to begin the construction of a House of Worship on January 20, 2008. On the first Sunday in May 2011, Two Rivers Baptist Church conducted its first worship service in its new facility located at 6420 Rokeby Lane. God is Good!
Our congregation has been blessed with three pastors who have faithfully served Our Lord and our membership. Rev. Bill Jeffcoat was with us at the very first service and served until his retirement on November 20, 2005. Rev. Scott Covington was called as our second pastor and began to serve in January 2006. A powerful speaker, Rev. Covington strengthened our congregation spiritually and numerically. Rev. Covington served us through August 2007. Our current pastor, Rev. Peyton Wiltshire, began his pastorate on December 2, 2007, and continues to lead us toward God’s bright future!
